I understand that after last night's 'X Factor' the public vote was cancelled because viewers said that some of the acts seemed 'distorted' and 'warped' and 'sounded like Daleks'. This doesn't necessarily mean that (as has been claimed) there was a problem with the sound system, does it?

I do remember one of the guys you mention in the 60s - he had long blond flowing hair then, didn't seem very musical, and was unusually old for the pop music genre.

I thought he ruined the cultural creativity of young people.

I don't think so, Lats - Simon Dee was a chat show host; had a brief couple of years of hyperbole, but not really involved in the pop music genre. (He was in his thirties at the time, but the hair - although fair - wasn't that long for the times.)

Stock and Aitkin were both in their teens in the '60s, Waterman in his very early twenties - they didn't really come to any prominence before the '80s.)
