    Blue plaques revisited

More interesting stuff from Petroc this morning, this time about blue plaques in the London area. Apparently only 14% are dedicated to women, with none to composers and only a handful to performers including Kathleen Ferrier, Jenny Lind and Dame Clara Butt. English Heritage are seeking to even things up a bit and requesting nominations, while emphasizing that 'the bar will be set high'. Proposals can be made via the English Heritage website.

Since it was founded 150 years ago, the London blue plaques scheme has been driven mainly by suggestions from the public. Commemorative plaques appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds in London, to residents and visitors alike.
