I'm sure somebody mentioned this, but I can't seem to find it. I like the fact that BBC Sounds syncs progress between devices (useful for me to keep up with TTN between work and home) I had forgot that Sounds does not support Chromecast and so remembered about this sync feature. I found the programme I had been listening to via Sounds on my phone via this web link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0002sc1 (searching through the TTN page) but of course this is the "old style" I player page.

However I had noticed that TTN was available via sounds so tried an experiment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0002sc1 if you manually put sounds then play and copy the PID from that 1st url low and behold the show appears in the "Sounds" style webpage with progress saved.

What gives? How long are we going to have almost two methods of navigation, anybody know? Sounds is awful to navigate via show then date, which is how I like to often find my shows. I'm only just a touch over the target age for Sounds and find it annoying to say the least (I can find my own podcasts!)

Rant over (not usually one for online rants - middle age creeping up)

Am I wrong in thinking that Sounds is inferior to the other ways of accessing R3 I used in the past?

There’s no timeline that I can find, so hard to locate sections within a programme. For programmes with many parts there are no markers. For programmes with playlists it can be hard to find out what’s on, or been on. These issues have me reverting to iPlayer, or the browser interfaces.

It’s quite good that one can switch between stations and programmes quickly, but in other ways it’s worse than the tools it may replace. Or have I just not experimented enough, or applied RTFM?

Is there information available on Sounds for the programme currently playing?
        I’m struggling to find any.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

A limited amount for the current programme, Radio 3 In Concert

Clicking the "read more" button (left side, lower down) yields this:

The Hallé Orchestra and Andrew Manze present a programme of late Romantic works at the Town Hall in Leeds. The ever popular First Violin Concerto by Bruch with the soloist, the Canadian violinist James Ehnes; the noble First Symphony by Elgar; and a colourful, seasonal piece by Gerald Finzi.

Finzi: The Fall of the Leaf
          Bruch: Violin Concerto No 1

          INTERVAL

          Elgar: Symphony No 1

          The Hallé
          Andrew Manze, conductor
          James Ehnes, violin
Edit: This also applies to programmes currently being listened to on BBC Sounds, but which were broadcast in the past.
