Sadly, that's only three- and I can't find any of the remainders who also fit that suit,
When I say "all musical connections" (#103), that's as in connections between pieces they wrote.

      No, quite.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't Roxanna in this case.

Something would have emerged from Boilk if it was.

(A funny thing, ferney, I don't necessarily associate myself with the Hear and Now crowd of which I see you as one but given recent talk I do think now I'm often there or thereabouts)

Zemlinsky, perhaps? (I suppose a Zemi Linsky is better than no Zemlinsky at all)

Let's speed things up. You may kick yourselves when all is revealed, so I'm revealing the final 8 composers sorted by series...

It is composers of music for the harp, yes, so well done but only two of the names you mention are intended to fit that category, namely Mozart and Mathias.

On your other point, the lines are not meant to be read individually - as with other efforts, it is a mixture across the grid.

Quite right - a typing error on my part for which apologies. It doesn't affect the answer to that clue.

                I am not any wiser.

Troilus and Cressida would apply to Walton and Penderecki but not the others.

Crowns? Royalty? - Crown Imperial, Ubu Rex?

The top line - all I can think of is sports/games - Rugby (Honegger), Jeux (Debussy).

Knights of the realm? Bax, Willie W, Panufnik, RRB.

And Stivell doesn't seem to fit with my three composers – Mozart / Mathias / Hindemith – of harp concertos (including harp with another soloist). Even so, I suspect there's a harp concerto/concertante thing in there somewhere.
Well, it is composers of music specifically for harp and you have got it.

                    Mozart / Mathias / Hindemith / Stivell.

Stivell, who is a Breton and in the folk genre, sort of, is extremely well known for the harp and the harp pieces by Mozart and Hindemith are also well known to a greater and lesser degree. Mathias - I would have seen that one myself as the more difficult. The Breton in a different category from harp composers is Tomas Breton with various accents on his name.

The remaining three connections in my second grid are not overtly musical.

Two could conceivably be found by people who know little or nothing about music.

I am really struggling with your top two lines. I have been through everything I can think of, including what seemed like many possibilities I haven't mentioned here. November, number of symphonies, Harriet Cohen, number connections in their birth and death years........you name it!

Thank you ever so much for doing my grid. That is very kind of you. Just to clarify, it is Mompou - excellent composer - with two m's but what is written doesn't affect the connection. I've just noticed that originally it was another case of my bad typing so not your fault. Thanks again!

No. I've just updated the Bax box with an asterisk, if you go back to page 14. Turning in now - hope not to be responsible for any sleepless nights!

I think that top line must be rhapsodies. Also considered fantasies but I feel rhapsodies is more likely, especially what with BBC4 pushing the making of Bohemian Rhapsody so whether you have any interest in that or not the concept may be uppermost in your mind. These BBC trailers - like commercials - they are so repetitive that it is hard not to be affected by them.
