How interesting, I too had Enescu down as "Georges" initially, before checking online. But if GeorgeS Enescu didn't fit with your Georges, Handel didn't fit with mine ... Handel is actually an accidental red herring (or two) for the Georges as I had him down as a German-spelled Georg anyway. Maybe I should have dispensed with Enescu and stuck in a third Handel?

So just one series to get, and Handel didn't write any Rhapsodies (me thinks).

Ah! If it's "Handel", it should be "George" - if "Georg", it has to be "Händel".

So - if the non-body-part "Handel" isn't amongst the "George"s, then that collection should be Enescu, Antheil, Butterworth, and Benjamin?

Which leaves Handel, Liszt, Bax, and Britten - and rules out "Rhapsody".

Christmas? (Handel, Messiah, Liszt Christmas Tree Suite, Britten St Nicholas, Bax Christmas Eve/Christmas Carol?

By the way - if anyone is thinking of an Alphabetical Associations-type "the 'winner' has to set the next puzzle" affair, they can think again!

You have clearly won this, ferney, so I have done one for you.

I hope you don't mind but I have made it a very easy one:

          Magnard - Radigue - Koechlin - Godefroid

          Alberga - Holmes - Rozsa - Varese

          Grainger - Foerster - Panufnik - Durey

          Sturton - Tabakova - Respighi - Bruns

          …..it is right now.

I think I might have to give the answer to this one just to indicate for future ones that I am up to this task.

Will need more time on the others.
              You are correct.

Erm ... could we have an official answer to the previous puzzle before we get to grips with the next, please?

With Victoria Coren-Mitchell you get two boards.

(But, yes, I should like the answer to the first - I know it makes sense)

I think it might help if we knew which ones of the first we - actually you ferney - have solved correctly and then whether we are looking in the latter group for Enescu or Handel.

In other words, a light steer rather than a big clue...…..just a suggestion.

One at a time, though, Lats! The lion is done and the answers revealed before the water starts!

Without wishing to upset the apple cart, Taneyev - Sergei (ST), Bax - Arnold (AB), Handel - George (GH).

If we can find one other then we might also be looking for a different limb from the eye in Taneyev.

Yes - Butterworth - Arthur (AB)

You have not quite conceded that there are four Georges including Enescu but I think now that must be the case. I can't find another limb in any of them so Taneyev is eye. I'm not sure that you have conceded that Ferney's unresolved fab four are the right four but I think in the next hour we must assume that they are. What strikes me of those four is that the Bax is very narrow in terms of the compositions for which he is renowned. Obviously there are symphonies but those aside, I'm playing around with November and Spring. We can rule out Tintagel. This focus is on composition because there isn't a lot that you can do with the name Bax. Britten, the War Requiem aside, does not especially lead tos cross-referencing either. For example, we are not going to get in the others a Peter Grimes. I wondered about Pears but see no links there with Bax although there are performances of Liszt. So I'm mystified.
