OK, a deliberate connivance between the media, Banksy, and Southebys then.

Sotheby's put an estimate of £200,000-£300,000. History of this work (described as 'unique', take back what I said earlier) here. Apparently it was 'given to the present owner by Banksy in 2006'. In the artist's frame. Either Sotheby's didn't examine it very closely - or they did !
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

There you are then: they all got a slice of the action.

Shred your own Banksy, very likely to be cheaper here: https://www.sworder.co.uk/auction/lo...=25&pn=1&g=-1#

What is a "fake" is the video which was supposed to show how it was done
The blades are facing the wrong way and wouldn't shred anything
and in a "Name of The Rose" style it would be very easy to find Banksy if you asked to look at the fingers of everyone in Bristol as he seems to have a strange way of holding his soldering iron

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
