The media will focus on Steptoe and that is more than fair enough but it is the Hancock collaboration which was truly ground breaking. Not only did it launch sitcom but it shaped and reflected the humour of two generations. Of the alive, Merton knows this best. But I'm struck by what is to me the surprising humility of some of the other significant names on Twitter in their comments. It was all roughed up a bit and later a lot and it is unlikely that it could have been otherwise but one suspects that many understand that with the gains came losses.Last edited by Lat-Literal; 06-10-18, 22:46.Comment
