Homer decided to have his name legally changed to Max Power so as to open up more possibilities. This was also the name of a British magazine, based in Peterborough, which covered the performance-tuning and car market, boy racers. By coincidence, Max Power the footballer is currently undergoing a medical to see if he can transfer to Sunderland even if it would officially be past the transfer window. He was named after his parents' labrador. The Simpsons' dog alas was not a labrador. I am not sure what it was. It might have been a whippet.
