It wasn't me - though it could well have been!
Nostalgia is sometimes seen as a means of escaping from the present by means of a distorted idealisation of the past; I suppose this is all right as long as the past in question was being lived fully in the present at the time?

It's a pity that a silly comment by Peter Warlock should have been prolonged and repeated even to this day. The "cow looking over a gate" comment did not used the word "cowpat"; this came later.
