    R3's new website ...

... was launched yesterday, as you may have noticed.

You can add comments to Gabriel Gilson's blog - or here.

(Constructive ones would be best )
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Cluttered. (Sorry, but you did ask!)

And Radio 4 has a new page with the Fritz Speigl UK Theme to be listened to if required. Very odd but welcome. Why not bring it back to R4 in the mornings and be done with messing about. It was good.

Reminds me of my kitchen cupboards. Chaotic.

there seem to be some strangely useless pages (IMO) on the website e.g. if you click on Listen to Concerts then click on A to Z you get this

The best of the BBC, with the latest news and sport headlines, weather, TV & radio highlights and much more from across the whole of BBC Online

and as far as I can see there's no useful information there at all, just tiny details of events over the last 3 years which you can't listen to anymore

Do they still do plays on R3? Not much evidence on the website.

I've never noticed the classical review pages before which are interesting.

It says they're in order of artist name but the classical ones are obviously in composer order. Antonin Dvorak, for example, appears under A and D whereas Arnold Bax only appears under B. I guess I'm nitpicking.

A bit messy and cluttered and too much red, and I'm writing as someone who adds information to live webpages. They've also don't appear to have corrected any of the recent cock ups.

I think the new Arts and Drama page is a great improvement, with some of the main arts news stories linked to it.

The look of it may not be entirely to my taste ('Show and Tell' seems quite appropriate), but the stuff is there, with links the the main arts news page.

I can see one change which I approve of (and had previously expressed my dislike about it) but I won't say what it is because other people may have liked it and now will blame me for its disappearance ...

Btw, don't the red bars on the white background on the schedule page remind you of something?

So now we know where the money saved from the abolition of the old messageboards went....

I think we can sense which direction the wind is blowing when 50% of the latest "classical" (sic) reviews are by self-styled pop music journalists who namecheck Depeche Mode and U2 in their copy; and proudly boast that Britten and Vaughan Williams are the only two British classical composers of whom they've heard.

I wish they called composers composers rather than artists

it's the new policy - if they can achieve total incompetency then the Murdoch 'pay thru the nose' empire can stop applying political pressure via their friends in high office to reduce the Beeb to insignificance.
