    Peter Firmin dies at 89

Sad to see the death announced of the great Peter Firmin, the co-creator with Oliver Postgate of Noggin the Nog, Pogles Wood, Ivor the Engine, Bagpuss and the Clangers. I grew up with them. Didn't know he had co-created Basil Brush.
Peter Firmin co-created the Clangers, Bagpuss and Basil Brush and received a Bafta in 2014.

    Hello there,

I was never a fan of Basil Brush tbh but I well remember Ivor the Engine, Bagpuss and the Clangers from the 1970s with great fondness. Indeed seeing the Clangers is one of my first early childhood memories circa 1970. I still have a soft spot particularly for Bagpuss and indeed it was a favourite of our daughter's when she was younger. Nowadays regrettably she is into Barbie. O tempora O mores !!

RIP Peter Firmin and thank you for the wonder...

    Best Wishes,

    Tevot

Happy memories of watching Noggin the Nog and Clangers as a family; the latter was one of only a small handful of programmes my mother could bring herself to watch as she loathed TV. Ivor the Engine I only saw occasionally and Bagpuss passed me by completely. I think the time of airing may have been a factor as Clangers must have been an evening thing for us all to be watching. Daytime TV was not allowed at home and I didn't have my own TV as a student.

Pogles Wood and Noggin the Nog were just wonderful parts of growing up.

And reading Noggin stories to my own kids was very special.Still love those stories.

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
