Many years ago I thought it was more or less a given that there'd be concerts in London on every night - perhaps at the RFH, the Barbican or the RAH.
I wouldn't always want to go, but nevertheless I felt that there was generally something on - if not every night, perhaps every other night.
My tastes have changed over the years, but even allowing for the fact that I might not want to hear Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony, or Beethoven's 5th, or Schoenberg's Gurrelieder, I do get the feeling that it's not so easy to pick a day, or even a week, and hope to find something worth going out to. Or is it just me?
