    Whistling

Have just attempted to whistle the soprano solo from Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate.

Please reassure me that it is impossible.

Danielle De Niese done well, tho’.

I would have though it to be well in the range of a coloratura siffleur, excuse my mix of languages! However the sound may lose power at the top end!

Oh yes! - well, I think so; see, I'm gradually losing the upper partials of my hearing, which are being screened out by a high-pitched whistle at the same pitch level.

I have tried and been defeated by Exultate Jubilate so tend to stick to the alto siffleur repertoire. Whistlers are a vanishing race, perhaps we should form an Association, apply to the Arts Council for a grant and get Mr GG to write/arrange something for us (not Colonel Bogey) before it is too late.

Maybe there is scope for setting Jack Smith Clubs around the country!

I can whistle in minor thirds, if that counts.

I would enjoy listening to that.

Maybe only while whetting the whistle.

                              Wettin’?
