    Bizarre job titles

As it's not April 1st, I suppose I must accept that the man I've just been watching on BBC1 is indeed a penguinologist. A couple of days ago, the 'Today' programme was interviewing a dance psychologist. I also recall hearing, a month or so ago, an interview with a conflict resolution analyst. Any other equally bizarre job titles I should be aware of?

"The Zoological Society of London have a resident penguinologist who specialises in anything and everything related to penguins. Among his various tasks Dr Tom Hart is researching the threats to antarctic penguins. In 2011 he oversaw the largest penguin pool in the country at London Zoo." Seems reasonable enough. Likewise conflict resolution a valuable discipline..... On the other hand, some truly bizarre jobs are advertised with (usually) left-leaning local authorities, in (usually) the Guardian..... The practice of tacking of "ology" onto just about anything probably dates from those BT ads with Maureen Lipman.

What's My Line, as far as I can remember, depended on the person being able to mime a key action of their job, to hilarious effect .

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

That reminds me...there is a tapper's harker, IIRC, though I'm not sure if that's the job description or the implement used.

Wonderful! I hope Gerard Hoffnung was 'up there' enjoying it.
Do you happen to know what key it was in?

Yes, and what have you got against Barbara Kelly and David Nixon. Actually that reminds of a line in The Goons 'They're flying the Skull and Crossbones, No - it's David Nixon with his arms folded!'

Nothing against them...thanks for reminding me! (David Nixon was a 'magic show' person wasn't he? When not doing WML, that is.)
