The silliest is surely the advertisement of it on Radio 3 that I hear yesterday between Free thinking and Essay.
Which is the silliest Winter Olympics sport?

I'll really miss the Alpine Skiing - truly spectacular courses, performances and photography (high overhead from cables and drones) this year!Last edited by jayne lee wilson; 23-02-18, 17:38.

I hope the BBC Sports team resists the temptation to subject us to a prolonged post-mortem/post-event analysis.

The PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games are here, and the entire world is taking to Google in order to learn as much as possible about the athletes, the outfits, and the correct pronunciation of the venue (hint: it's Pee-yon-chong!). But when it comes to determining which sport is dominating search bars throughout America, there's truly no contest.
According to this fascinating map created by Google Trends, 46 out of the 50 states have searched for "figure skating" more than for any other winter sport over the past 12 months. The glamorous — and sometimes nefarious — sport has enjoyed a revival of media attention and pop culture relevance following the release of the critically-acclaimed 2017 film, "I, Tonya."
But I must admit I am a fan : http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-olympics/43167896

BBC coverage is so OTT as to be unbearable, bit like everything else they cover

The very point I've been trying to make - politely, and respectfully, I hope - is that the arcane nature of many winter sports means that, for the general viewing public to enjoy and understand them they require - and indeed deserve - the kind of measured and authoritative, while still enthusiastic, coverage that, say, Rugby Union and - in most cases - Lawn Tennis enjoy. The over-excitable presenters/commentators/analysts/assessors that have been such a feature of the BBC's coverage of these Games could learn a lot from watching and listening to Andrew Cotter, John McEnroe, Brian Moore and others. What the late Don Maskell and Bill McLaren would make of their attempts I dread to think - but then, they'd probably be too polite to say.
(And I haven't dared even mention the cost of each medal, to which I assume I have contributed. )

For two weeks, the entire world's attention has been on South Korea, where the world's best athletes have been competing for glory in the Winter Olympics.
For two weeks, I seemed to have lived outside the world.

Like you, bored to tears with it. Once you've seen one bloke or girl on a bit of wood twisting and tumbling in the air, you've seen them all.Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

Which is the silliest Winter Olympics sport?
Despite my best efforts, I still find myself regaled with reports from the Winter Olympics which are included in the 10.00 o'clock news. As to which is the silliest event ...I think curling is pretty daft.
Figure skating just about escapes my wrath; but what next?
Darts? Conkers? Shove Ha'penny?
