Well, I did think it was going to be Radio 3's Big Moment, but it appears we were were only playing second fiddle to a load of doughnuts anyway .

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I caught up with it via the iplayer yesterday, and thought you both Done Good in the difficult circs which seem to be inevitable on these sorts of programmes. The BBC just will not admit it's wrong. I noticed the same attitude later in the programme when they were discussing the daily switch off of national radio services from the late afternoon to allow BBC Alba to be broadcast on digital terrestrial TV.

The alleged "wide ranging consultation" certainly passed me by, and thousands of others.

And you only got a cup/glass of filtered water, not even a doughnut. people who write daft letters to the Radio Times get given CDs and lots of books. It's not fair to R3 and you two.

Waddya mean, 'you two'? Chris got to go to the rehearsal of King Arthur and the performance. And for all I know, he might have had a BBC cup of water too!

            Good effort I thought

I'm shocked to find that FF's initials are in fact SS and that p'raps she's been playing me for a fool (not difficult, some might say ) all along and is in fact Simon Says' alter ego

She / He most certainly is nowhere near any semblance of Simon Says in any manifestation you might care to imagine or have nightmares about.

              The very idea shivers.

I suppose I do have an alter ego (indeed, have had so many I've lost count of them), but SS! has not been one of them.

I have a genuine admiration for those few straightforward people who register under their (real!) first name + second name. No messin'. I feel you know exactly who you're dealing with. But all the rest of us, sly, secretive, even sinister (in some cases) pseudonyms, hmmmm, I wouldn't trust us an inch

Back in 2007 I wanted to register under just my real first name but the naughty BBC said they had two of me already, so I couldn't. Then the other two gave up but it was too late. I am now more 'sal' than me. Scary.

On the contrary--people using their real names have to be guarded to present themselves in the best possible light; it's only because I've been partially anonymous that I've been able to be so embarrassingly honest about "the real me". Warts and all. People who've read my innermost thoughts here and on the old board know infinitely more about "exactly who they're dealing with" than they ever would if they met me as an acquaintance. If I'd been forced to register under my given name, there's no way in hell I would have been so revealing. You want straightforward? I've got yer straightforward right here...ha!

So in sum, what can you tell from a proper name one way or the other? I daresay there are a few people who'd recognise the idiosyncratic "me" behind my posts no matter what my pseudonyms may be.

Yeah, well, that goes without saying, doesn't it?

Hardly. Most people simply don't have the guts for true candor.

I'd have thought that 'most people' don't have much they want to hide as far as their day-to-day social dealings are concerned.

... well, as far as I can tell, this is your third pseudonym here?

In earlier incarnations you were brave enough to share photographs of yourself, and were happy to recount very personal anecdotes of your feelings. If people had wanted to find out who you were it wouldn't have been too difficult!
