It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I apologise for posting a comment which led to something of an off-topic topic. But the most recent comments reminded me of an article in today's Atlantic:
"This is also a big part of why people don’t trust the media. Not that news articles are never biased, but a hypothetical perfectly evenhanded piece of journalism, that fairly and neutrally represented all sides would still likely be seen as biased by people on each side. Because, Manjoo writes, everyone thinks their side has the best evidence, and therefore if the article were truly objective, it would have emphasized their side more."

It’s not clear to me where HD thinks this revolution will be happening.
Be a brave person who would bet on which of the current UK countries will get there first.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

Lawley seemed to have zero interest in, or rapport with her castaways, whoever they were.
The Diana Mosley interview is useful for illustrating the mindset of a certain type of upper-middle class inter-war personage and I have rather more respect for D.M. for speaking honestly of her feelings for A.H. rather than refusing to discuss him at all. It's a fact that most of the people who knew A.H. personally (including his pre-putsch Jewish Munich landlady) seem to have rather liked him.
Is Kirsty Young's departure permanent, or only temporary?
