    Digital Personal Assistants

They seem to be taking over the world, well good sized chunks of it at least.

Anybody use them much ? Got any good tips for things they do well ? Found one that can successfully navigate the Barbican website and buy a ticket ? or even tougher call, found one that can buy the cheapest train ticket available for a given journey ?

Is there an element of sexism in having Alexa rather than Alex ?
Here's the place to discuss all things DPA, as well as smart homes, and other gadgets that are piled floor to ceiling in John Lewis this Xmas.

Will we all be utterly deskilled before we know it, and how much information are we giving away inadvertantly? How close are we to really useful smarthome systems for those with disabilities?

Personally , I think one of the most pressing need in development is for one that can figure out which edition of a Bruckner symphony is currently spinning, and demonstrate the critical difference from other editions..

Anyway, be interested to hear peoples thoughts, as I know little about these systems.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

...or indeed to know that Barenreiter does two different vocal scores for Bach's B minor Mass. They look similar but the page and bar numbering are different.

    Alexa? Get yer finger out.....
