Tuesday 7 November: Wilson Room, Portcullis House

DCMS Committee to question top BBC officials on 2016/17 Annual Report

Senior management from the BBC - including Director-General, Tony Hall - will take questions from the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee on its Annual Report and Accounts for the year 2016/17 in a public session on Tuesday.

MPs are likely to use the session to ask about the renewal of the Royal Charter, a board which has replaced the previous two-pronged governance structure of the Executive Board and the BBC Trust.

Questions are also likely to cover the publication of top-earner salaries, issues of diversity and the gender pay gap for both on-screen talent and BBC staff, and their plans to combat fake news through the expansion of their Reality Check team. Other topics of interest may include their strategy to compete with other online TV streaming services and the potential creation of a dedicated BBC Scotland channel.

    Witnesses:
    At 10.30am:
    Lord Tony Hall, Director-General, BBC
    Sir David Clementi, Chairman, BBC
Anne Bulford OBE, Deputy Director-General, BBC

    the Reality Check team ?

I had to check that out. Maybe it could be rebranded the " Half the Story Team?"

Because half the story, taken out of context, is what it gives on tax in yesterdays piece.

The Income tax statistics are ones that the BBC is very fond of putting forward,( Nick Robinson did exactly the same thing a couple of years ago) even though without the relevant income statistics, or details about other tax take, ( indirect, corporation, IHT etc etc )they are really misleading at best.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.
