    About Me in My Profile

Occasionally, and usually inadvertently (when my finger slips), I end up visiting a fellow-member's profile page, and usually find a blank, as there is on mine, apart from place (York). But then I spot that others have looked at my profile page too, perhaps not so accidentally.
Rather than do some random checking, I thought I would ask forumites what sort of information they post about themselves, if any, and what they would like to know about others.

Whatever you wish but I look for musical preferences and other interests. Generally if I spot a new name on the forum I go early to the person's profile page and I also go back to the profiles of familiar names when something they write intrigues me. It is easy to spot those who do similarly - their names feature regularly in the sections on the last five people to visit the profile(s). As for whether it is essential, no. People emerge in discussions. To take just one example, I can remember talk from way back with one member on matters as diverse as the versions of RVW 2 and differing access to YT clips depending on local server and where one is in the world. That sort of thing forms the basis to how one sees subsequent discussion.

And sometimes we/I do click on a profile link meaning to access the last post on the thread in What's New? … Profiles: some people write essays, some post nonsense, most don't bother putting anything.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Sometimes I'm looking for a subthread, can't remember which board it comes under, but can think of other posters who post on the board I'm looking for. So I go to their profile page.

If anything, your typing has improved since you wrote your profile, Bbm!

No mention of school there, though; I thought you were a teacher of some sort, but perhaps you just help out voluntarily with the band.

                - that's what I mostly use the page for, too.

Often the one thing one remembers is who started a discussion. Profile page lists the latest started threads (I couldn't remember whether it was 'recently' or 'latest' so I clicked just now arbitrarily on the first 'A' member to check).

Pulcie, I must amend and update. Many thanks.

Bbm - go to the top of this page and on the right click on Settings (next to Log Out). Then on the next page, left-hand side under My Settings, you'll see Edit Profile. That should do it, though as I don't have anything in my profile except 'Bristol' I'm not sure. But try that.
