I don't agree. If they say you don't have to, you don't have to. But some people do want the material tailored to their interests - in which case they need to give the information. As far as I can see, the BBC takes the view 'We can do it, so we offer it'. You're free to reject the offer. But if you see it as a point of principle and would prefer to do without television, you're free to do that. We all have our priorities.

I have not, as far as I know, given the BBC any personal information. As far as they're concerned, I'm french frank and when I want to listen to a radio programme they don't ask me who I am. So they've put a cookie on my computer? Oh, dear .

£600K-£650K for John Humphrys, £250K-£299K for Nick Robinson and £150K-£199K for Justin Webb but neither of the Today team's female presenters is even on the list; can that be correct? Can it really be that JH's non-Today presentations justify so much larger a salary?

I'm not free to not register, if I want to legitimately listen to iplayer, a service that I have paid for.
They also insist on having my email address, and knowing my age. I really don't want them to have those. If they make that a condition of paying the licence fee, I'll decide one way or the other with those requirements taken into account.

Depends if Mastermind is a BBC production or contracted out to a third party. The remuneration for Graham Norton is just for his Radio 2 work, not the TV chat show which is third party.

I'd thought of the first of those when posting and I meant "correct" given the vast gulf of difference, but yes, it must include Mastermind, although his appearances thereon are a good deal less frequent than those on Today, I'd have thought. And OK, Mishal Husain occasionally acts as a newsreader and Sarah Montague presents Hard Talk, but something still seems awry.

I'm not sure but think that it's the former, in which case JH's "BBC salary" would presumably include his rôle in it.

Mishal Husain is listed at £200 - 249,000. Sarah Montagu appears not to be listed as earning over £150,000.
