I wouldn't do it myself as I do like people to be able to turn up "on spec"
but if they are selling out their gigs it's fine (IMV) to have online sales only if it makes sense and is simple to do.

Of course they will ... ie hike their prices rather than simply change the name of the fee which would be downright stupid and ultimately self-defeating.

Still, if including it in the general price ends the silliness of adding these annoying little extras just as you reach payment time that, to me, will be something of an advance.

It's the appearance of honesty and transparency rather than the cost of the fee itself which is the main point, I think.
