    Ode to what was that?

Channel 4 News have just played us three bars of Beethoven from Hamburg.

    Is this a record?

    Or perhaps live lunacy?

Er please what is the point of this post? I dont watch Channel Four and have no idea what you are talking about. There are many bars in Beethoven, and no doubt Beethoven visited many bars and probably some could have been in Hamburg, but I fail to see what's next.

I'm sorry to say that my reaction to greeni's post was very similar to umslopo's.

I'll guess that there was a tiny snatch of Beethoven (maybe the Ode to Joy? or maybe not? three bars is probably enough to recognise it) and that is unusual on Channel 4?? To be absolutely, perfectly honest, I don't think there was a Channel 4 when I gave up television so I don't even know what it is. Not exactly
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

If they'd played three familiar bars of Gustav Holst, it could be Mars bars.

There's a shindig over there and the assorted fuhrers were invited to a concert...

The BBC World Service's report from the G20 in Hamburg this morning included that tiny snatch of Beethoven's Ode to Joy.

Not just any concert in any old venue. The Elbe Philharmonic Hall is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. Let's hope everybody enjoyed the concert.

The CBSO under Mirga GT will be the first UK orchestra to play there on Monday. Of course, their own hall isn't too bad ...

The G20 'leaders' were at a live Beethoven 9 in Hamburg (assuming you're seriously wondering). Macron looked at the end to be genuinely enthused by what he'd heard, in contrast to Trump next to him with the bored face of a particularly pompous and stupid blobfish.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                        Harsh.

It cannot be healthy to spend all night writing furious tweets.

But the blobfish is past health or sickness, I fear. His eye reveals the onset of decomposition.

Could be a bad case of cararacts.

                              Cat rather than car, surely?
