What a saunter I had yesterday! Going well to roughly halfway back home, when I didn’t realise how low te battery was on my motorbility scooter! Yikes! So MrsBBM had to walk back by herself and get the car. Luckily there was a kind gent who let me in his young family home. There are still a lot of decent people out there.

Rather raw and gloomy today, but spring flowers are coming on a treat.

Down here, sunny. Whether it’s cold outside, not sure, no doubt it is!

I did my first long cycle trip on Sunday afternoon - to Primrose Hill, for an early afternoon gig at the Princess of Wales - a distance of about 24 miles in all. Actually I'm feeling quite proud of myself, given that I've put on half a stone since August, (always the problem with reverting to hot meals as it gets colder). Three quarters of the way there I thought the discomfort in my hips and knees would force me to turn back; the trick seems to be to dismount - especially when climbing, or when a long traffic queue at lights makes walking quicker; this seems to refresh the joints and leg muscles in preparation for the next long stretch. One is, of course, constantly having to stop at side junctions, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, and people ask if cycling in London can ever be compared to in the countryside. The answer is that a city such as London is a visual feast of everchanging landscapes, compared to the comparative monotony of endless fields interspersed with the odd pretty landmark, village or spectacular view; and as for the traffic dangers and inhaling unhealthy quantities of polluted air, there are always quiet back streets even right in the centre of Town, and even in the thick of it the positive aspect of paying scrupulous attention to what is going on in front, to the side, and behind oneself seems to rub off in terms of re-invigorating the old grey matter, so that, these last couple of days, I've felt capable of taking on any mind-stretching activity that would otherwise seem beyond me in most circumstances. Last summer I had, for the first time, to give up on a 30 mile circular ride south taking me high into the North Downs, which I had been doing at least once a year, turning around at a distance of about 6 miles unable to face the long uphill stretch to a pub called The White Bear, even though I would have had the pleasure of the 6 mile freewheeling downhill return; this year I'm feeling all primed up in readiness to have another go at it.

Hi SA. Sorry to hear about this. Must be quite disheartening for you. I hope to go to a National Trust property soon.

Another fine day today. It be good to have another saunter somewhere, whilst we have this fine weather.

Au contraire, BBM - I'm rejuvenated with the prospect of longer trips this coming summer. It pays to keep exercising the limbs in this way, even during the winter months, as it gives one a head start (or legs start) for the longer journeys ahead.

Yes, it's another nice day here too; the weatherpersons' predictions of near record-breaking temperatures for February for Friday and Saturday are now turning out to be more likely restricted to locations around northern Ireland, the N Wales coastline and the Aberdeen/Dundee part of eastern Scotland now; but it still looks good for the forseeable...

I think today is going to be rather dull and not very inspiring?

Very pleasant here - sunny and mild.

Here as well - almost early summer-like out of the shade. Shame I have so much to do indoors today.

Lovely on the Common this morning, although the sun was being shy...drifts of crocuses on cemetery paths, lichen and moss now bright green, birds very vocal.

Sounds great Greenie, Southampton has such riches in the way of open space.

It’s abut 10C down here. Still not warm enough when we drove down to Brighton to see the cardiologist. Sometimes we park down by the Marina car park and I’d be off on my powered wheelchair, whilst MrsBBM goes by Shanksies pony.

(PS - Heard my first blackbird of 2019 singing yesterday).
