As well as violets yesterday, I have been enjoying drifts of multicoloured crocuses and other spring bulbs in the Parks.

There's now more than tentative talk of severe weather on Sunday, south of a line from the M4 (Cardiff to London) to the A12 (London to Ipswich), with possible heavy snowfall running from central Wales across the midlands. We'll need to keep our eyes on that one.Comment

In the Highlands we just have sheets of ice. Unable to walk the dog. Perhaps later. But you folk elsewhere seem to have your own problems, if different from ours. Howling gale woke me up at around 6 this morning; now the wind's moderated somewhat, but still blustery; and a light shower has just passed. It now looks as if the severe weather threat for Sunday is off the agenda - the low concerned being expected to drift over N France, and not be anything like as deep as feared yesterday. But tomorrow and Saturday are going to see gales almost everywhere. The wind has moderated somewhat thank heavens, and the rain has cleared, but it feels pretty chilly out. The yellow weather warnings have disappeared from tomorrow's forecast, but predicted windspeeds are high, and together with wall to wall rain outdoor activity may be limited...Comment

Against forecast, up here the temp has dropped well below the predicted 8C / 7C; was 5C at midday, now already struggling to stay at 4C in mid-afternoon, wind SE and not mucking about.Comment

The wind has wound itself up and the sky is leaking intermittently - not much actual rain but the force with which it is being applied makes it very wet.
