A bright sunny day - the rain that originally was forecast for the morning evidently went through more quickly during the night than expected. I shall try and take advantage after lunch for fresh air and a stroll meanwhile washing is doing its thing in the breeze.

Took the opportunity the fresh sunny afternoon afforded to pop down to the local retail park & check out new CD players, as mine finally died this morning. Nobody seemed to know what a CD player was - it was as if I'd beamed in from another planet! Fortunately the young American neighbour Dave suggested I try plugging my DVD player into the same ports on the back of my ancient FM system, and.... hey presto, it works! My weeny DVD player I paid £14 for 6 years ago works for my CDs! Even better than the DVD player did, actually, as it was able to play the final tracks on a 78 minute Peter Pears/Benjamin Britten CD. The only drawback is that there is no dial on the machine to show which track one is on - but that's a small price to pay - or rather, no price at all! I shall have to give him an Xmas card now!
