The guy selling The Big Issue this morning was pale and very under the weather; I myself have not been feeling too good these past few days, putting it down to the high humidity, but I'm now wondering if this may be a bug that's doing the rounds. On the way back from St Sprees a wasp tried to get under my specs and into one of my eyes. This was despite pedalling at at least 20 mph to try & get away from the blighter - talk about persistence! This has been a big year for wasp numbers here - one can't complain, as they're pollenators, doing the job for the falling bee populations, albeit not quite as efficiently because they don't have panniers attached to their back legs!

Temperatures are set to take a big tumble this Friday, following the south-eastward passage of a cold front on Thursday, after which they should recover to an extent for the BH weekend, though to nothing like the levels we're presently experiencing, thank goodness!

I’m glad about that SA. Those temperatures were unbelievable! Unbearable!

      Sunny intervals I think today.

I think the weathermen have it wrong today!

Got it right here though, damp and cool. Will become rather sticky later in the day I suspect as the drizzle finishes and the temperature rises.

Spot on for here, Bbm. Or lots and lots of spots; in fact a real deluge between 9.30 and 10.00 this morning, as the cold front pledged to change everything passed through. You obviously live in the wrong part of the world!

              It brightened up later.

              Not bad today though.

The times it is enjoyable to take long cycle rides around London tend to be restricted when coinciding with when the kids come out of school, and so, with termtime recommencing on Monday, it was as well that I took my chances for this morning's 23-mile ride - roughly the same journey I took back in July in one of the few breaks during the heatwave, but in reverse, adding a leg that took me home through Fulham and Earl's Court - because the showers kicked off this afternoon, and have been a good deal heavier than either I or the weather forecasters predicted! As Bbm pointed out, it's a good deal cooler, maxing out at 17.5 C, ie 3 C below the average for late August. Very pleasant for cycling purposes, however. Upstairs' cat Maya was so pleased to see me she tried to trip me up all along the path to my front door, only to be spooked on seeing her reflection in the full-length mirror that is located just inside!

Cold last night - 8 - and cool during the day but OK in the sun. Tomorrow is not looking good - cold(might get to 14 by midday if the sun makes a break for it) and windy morning, with an afternoon of heavy rain on top. Won't be breaking any records for event day visitor figures at work methinks.

Indeed, it was, as was the night before. Rain, lots of it too, today!

Woke up at 3 am; had to grab the dressing gown and spread it across the bedclothes to get warm - something that doesn't usually occur until October or November!

The washing on the line here is very definitely rain rinsed (for extra softness); I couldn't be bothered bringing it all in again.

Raining incessantly since towards the end of the morning!

The other week I teased one of the neighbours by advising her to leave her laundry on the line during a thunderstorm for that extra "tingly feeling". "Do you really mean to tell me that if I leave clothes on the line in a thunderstorm they will get electrically charged?" she said, in all seriousness. Oh indeed, yes, I replied, smiling in all seriousness!
