Talking heat waves / exhaustion etc, one way I helpd myself to cope was to do what I had to do round the house barefoot all day. Really worked for me.
Reverse of what experts say you should do when it's seriously cold i.e. use good socks.

Yes. I was barefoot all day as well. Quite warm it was.

I've just done a tally on this month's temperature averages, and, added to those of the first six months of 2018, what a year it's turning out to be!

        Jan - Max: 8.7 C - 1.7 C above average Min: 3 C - average
        Feb - Max: 5.5 C - 2 C below normal Min: 0.5 C - 3.5 C below average
        Mar - Max: 8.6 C - 1.4 C below average Min: 2.4 C - 0.6 C below average
        Apr - Max: 14.7 C - 1.7 C above average Min: 6.9 C - 2.9 C above average
        May - Max: 19.1 C - 3.1 C above average Min: 8.8 C - 1.8 C above average
        June - Max: 22.0 C - 3 C above average Min: 12.0 C - 3 C above average
        July - Max: 25.3 C - 3.6 C above average Min: 15.4 C - 3.4 C above average

I don't do rainfall figures, but can report that the first 3 months were pretty wet here, with rain falling on more days than were dry; May had measurable rain on 10 days; June on just 2 days; July on 5 days.

Light winds and breezy today’s weather. 23C. Not bad. I hope!

Weather's getting so predictable now, no one is commenting!

Up here, I can barely see the fells so low is the cloud, mist, rain, yuk.
I watch the Test match and it's brilliant and cloudless.

                ... pretty nice dahn sarf.

But I know you are loyal to your northern fastnesses, in spite of (actually I think at least in part 'because of'... ) all they throw at you.

In ten days' time we have to go to Derbyshire. Will we cope???

Well it is getting rather that way. After a brief couple or 3 days respite it's back to dry and too hot here, and although there are some indications that there might some temporary easing on the temperature front over the weekend, the missing rain situation seems set to continue.

The burning question now is why has Brassbandmaestro with 15507 posts become BBMmk2 with 8 posts?

It's crept back to an uncomfortably warm temperature.

Shall we all designates a time, so all of us can do the rain dance together?

Up here on western edge of Pennines, it is grey, thickly misty, murky, dreech, in fact the fells are totally invisible, temp 15 at very best. Autumnal.
........and now rodding it down with some urgency!

I merely report what is outside the window. 'Loyalty' to northern fastness [ which I love] has nothing to do with it.

What does bug me and I know this could be true of others is that the vague and over-frequently I fear less than accurate forrecasts for 'up here' by BBC etc fall sort of the observed and lived-in reality.

Yes, I do know that the geography up here can make some forecasting tricky, so I now get online weather reports from a NORWEGIAN forecasting service which the farmers in this area have come to use as being far more accurate than the BBC's SE-orientated service and thus essential for their job.

Which is why I bother to report on this thread at all.
From now on, I won't, since it seems to upset some.
