Hot, sticky(why, when the humidity levels are so low today) overcast - not nice. The wind has dropped right away so no relief from finding a wind tunnel, and not much from the shade either.

Still a scorcher up here - no major rain since late April, and not even light rain for a month.
Easterlies continue to dry everything. Garden pots / plants drying out so fast as many are struggling to bloom.
BUT early aftrenoon, and cloud masses seem to be gathering from NE. Could it actually be.............????Last edited by DracoM; 05-07-18, 13:20.

"Ring ring"
"you rang, sir?"
"No Jeeves, that's the sound of me wringing out my T-shirt!"

The humidity was high overnight(around 90%) and as the temperature rose it went down apparently - to 40% mid-afternoon- so with a night low of 13 degrees that explains the heavy dew, but the current stickiness seems odd if humidity levels are that low. The thermometer reached 43 degrees early afternoon which, even allowing for where it is, is a bit excessive.

Temperatures everywhere should be back down to July normals on Tuesday, thank goodness! How have others coped, if at all? One suggestion has been to place a bowl of ice in front of a fan and blast away! I've only just about managed to keep things comfortable in the flat by opening all windows wide at 5 am, fanning doors to try and create a bit of a through draught, and then closing windows, curtains and blinds during daytimes. Still no sign of any rain to speak of, though I see there's been a bit of a shower over N Kent earlier on.

Another glorious, cloudless day here and a fierce burning sun. I just love it like this and don't at all mind the warmth indoors. The Temperature in my listening room at this very moment is 28.7 C and I'm happy with that.
Any humorous nominations for a Minister for Drought in order, as in 1976, to prompt the heavens to open?"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink
