The ITV news report say it will be 30 here tomorrow hotter than London and also my brother's place in Valencia.

You'd have enjoyed my trip today, S-A, a tour of the District line.
Started at Upton Park ( Cloudy but warm, the locals had started the pre match drinking early by the look of it.)
Down to Victoria, sunny spells, and lots of tourists helping the balance of payments, and back to Richmond, hot, sunny and a bit sultry. Fortunately the District line trains are( sort of) air conditioned, so not too unpleasant.

The really hot weather seems to be centred in the Midlands and North. It's been another scorcher here, cloudless sky and temps in the high 20s for about the 6th day in a row. This is exactly as that legendary 1976 summer, of blessed memory, progressed.

The continued NE airflow continues to make for odd effects here. My max/min thermometer(which sits on a table just outside my back door) shows 14 degrees for last night and 37 degrees for midday today. However unless completely sheltered from the wind(or indoors which many were finding not only hot but also very stuffy feeling) it was for the most part simply a comfortably warm day, getting distinctly cool in the evening.

Another hot day today. Hay fever too! Going away for a fortnight to foreign climes, The Isle of Wight! My father was born in Sandown. We will be staying in a village called Seaview, where my father’s parent’s retired to.

Noticeably hotter by the Thames than by the Itchen today...high tide by the Festival Hall was crowded but very agreeable.

Back southwards tomorrow with the dog on South Western Railway as it now calls itself.

Another scorcher up here! This is the 8th day in a row with totally cloudless skies and temperatures over 25 degrees.

A very pleasant and almost cloudless day here too, temperature maxing out at 24 C here, but 28 in the centre of town. The only problem is that I saw today as an opportunity to get garden table and chairs out to do some writing in the shade, but at midday the wind got up and I couldn't prevent papers etc blowing all over the place, and in the end had to give up! Tomorrow looks like being both hotter and more humid, with thunderstorms creeping up from France but not quite reaching this far. Places west and south of Reading look like getting their first soaking for several weeks; meanwhile, here it appears we're condemned for drought conditions as far as the forecasters can see; meanwhile the grass is starting to dry out and turn corn-coloured, and I see some places are already having hosepipe bans imposed.

The current BBC forecast is for this fantastic weather to continue beyond next week. It's 1976 all over again!

It's down to 18 degrees Celsius here now. Forumites dropping in here, unless they have air conditioning of some sort, might be advised to open as many windows as possible for an hour or two to let the cool air in and drain any indoor heat, because tonight could well be the last comfortable night for sleeping for some time to come - some forecasters are predicting night time temperatures across a large part of England and Wales to not drop below 20-21 C from tomorrow, with heightened humidity making matters worse. Hiopefully camera owners will be out photographing the beautiful golden-orange post-sunset sky, visible here through silhouetted trees, just like black lace, to create a remarkable likeness to a Japanese painting.

25C it’s going to be today, in IoW. Slightly cooler!
