Just back from a very crowded Vaisakhi procession which featured some amazing drums...but the rain rather put a damper on the starched fan-shaped headgear.

Never mind, the gurdwara does a grand cup of tea.

I'd imagine the starched headgear wearers would have been in need of a stiff drink!!!

However much they needed it, the Book they were honouring expressly forbids that...and smoking, and drugs. So a very jolly but a very sober crowd.

Turned to rain yesterday afternoon just as we were coming back from a place right out in the sticks called Barnsgate Manor, Heerons Ghyll near Uckfield.

Looks as though might be a better day today!

Atmosphere seems to be drying out nicely now, in preparation for the warmer weather on the way. The heat looks likely to peak on Thursday or Friday, with temperatures close to the 1949 April record of 29.4 C (85 F) somewhere in the London/Kent/Essex triangle, up to low 20s as far north as Manchester/Leeds, then backing down from the north over the weekend, with possible slight thundery breakdown on Sunday night coming in from the west. With the soil still cold and damp from the recent weather spells it's probably too early in the season for people to be contemplating evening barbecues, as night time temperatures are still likely to be on the cold side, even when days have been warm!

It was here, too - and then it rained!

Great day today! Long may it continue but without hay fever!

Not quite time for my grass pollen allergy to kick in, and even in leafy So’ton I have no trouble in finding tarmac. But at the moment a wide expanse of bright green is what my eye most craves.

Tree pollen doing it for me....The fields at the back of my house are now a lovely rippling green carpet, drawing in pigeons from far and near, so in a few weeks there'll be rape pollen.

Not here - stormy night and still wet. Hoping good weather'll be here dreckly!

After the beautiful Spring day yesterday, today fierce westerly and rodding it down with thick, heavy rain. You always know it's bad when seagulls are this far in/upland foraging forlornly.

It was a wonderful day yesterday weather wise/I know, as soon as it's sunny, the hay fever starts! However it was MrsBBM's birthday, so just as well we had sun! We went to see my mother who not very well at the moment.

Well, all I can say to that is, SNEEZE A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW, and hope and trust you celebrated without using up too many tissues! Hope your mother gets well soon, Bbm.

The first glorious, truly warm, day of the year is here, with an atmosphere as clear as a bell and hardly any clouds to be seen. The midday temperature here was 19 C, 5 C more than same time yesterday, and already 21 C in St James's Park, which will please the flamingos. All set for even warmer tomorrow, with possibly a few records broken.

I had to apologise to the carpet layer for having had the central heating on overnight. The dopamine in my head was such that I nearly fell over for the best part of an hour before he arrived. People keep saying I look half asleep anyway. It is a good job I never take illegal drugs. I thought the lobby was usually thought of as part of the hall. Perhaps it isn't a lobby but a ruse. He will be back again in a couple of weeks with a mat called something posh. I'd have settled for "carpet". Mostly I was in the garden during it all, bemoaning how it isn't its flowery self. Yes, some things are fighting back but others have given up the ghost. I also spent a very long time spading up dried slime. It is everywhere - but is it animal, vegetable or mineral? I am going to have to get some money from somewhere. Go to a pond in my animal rescue shorts. Fine lots of people for giving bread to the ducks. Call myself The Council.
