All last vestiges of snow now gone for the past couple of days here. Unfortunately the weekend promises to be a washout everywhere, making a mockery of the slightly above normal temperatures expected for early March. This sort of onslaught often happens following a winter block situation, as the atmosphere starts to sort itself out into a new pattern.

Not too bad a journey but we have found they do a satellite clinic at my local hospital now, thank goodness!

Now that I'm out and about in the car again I am struck by how much snow is still around, despite several days of mildness and some quite hefty spells of rain. Seeing a 2' high bank of snow still overhanging a well used route highlights how much of a problem there was last week.
The current problem is the quantity of surface water which is not only further breaking up the road surface but is also hiding the potholes which have developed, and which reduce already narrow roads even further as drivers stay towards in the middle of the road to avoid damage to their vehicles.
