Anyway, I've been in London today, where a "village " often doesn't look much like a village, and it hasn't been too parky .I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Right: a weary rant.
My newspaper / BBC forecast showery, breezy but drying conditions in NW England for today. Temp getting to 10C or better.
Well..................
...at the moment, as I write, it has been teeming with rain, driven by a sneaping and nasty westerly for the last four hours, the sky is heavy with more, temperature is 6C, and the fells are completely invisible in rain / mist / fog literally down to ground level - as if they had never been there! .
The distance between 'official forecasts' and what is actually on, round and rattling at my windows is always a source of cynically exchanged smiles in this town. In fact, most of us simply ignore what we're told, and check out the skies for ourselves. Yes, this is an area of fells and passes, it is in the NW, and it is beautiful and I'd never leave..................
But the erratic and not infrequently comically inaccurate official forecasts can rankle a bit de temps en temps.
And now, @ 5 p.m., it grudgingly came to a stop, wind still blowing, but, mirabile narratu, temp up to 9C......
So galling, because yesterday was sublime in every way. Hey ho!Last edited by DracoM; 27-01-18, 17:12.
