Well, I fell the other day and my right upper arm is both painful and can't bear weight.

Miles away, no public transport after midday, none at weekends. V. kind of you to suggest. I'm in rural North - you can't just casually call in...!!
DEEP fog here now under a cloudless sky & freeze all day. If the dampish pavements freeze overnight......phew!

Highly probable - there seems to be a lot of this while the weather pattern adjusts away from very cold, according to the UKweatherworld site I look in on regularly nowadays. It should turn generally mind and damp by Tuesday everywhere, and looks like staying that way until Xmas.

I think the forecasters have the weather wrong again!

Cannot see a fell top for mix of fog, rain, mist - more or less total whiteout above fifty feet!! No freeze.

Then this a.m., clear skies and hefty, gripping frost. Visibility fantastic - and not specifically forecast, either!
But now, at 1.46, thick cloud and mist is swirling in from the south........how weird is all this!!??

Lovely mild sunny day here after early frost. Lots of walkers out and about.

Fost and frog forecast for tonight/tomorrow morning though.

That's the effect of advection: warmer air advancing over cold surfaces - one miniaturised demonstration of this being when you take an item out of the freezer, and watch the "steam" rise, which is water vapour condensing. As that warm air spreads across the belly of the country its accompanying fog will be everywhere, and with the sun too weak to burn it off will probably last a couple of days until winds increase and lift it into stratus cloud at about 1000 feet.

Here it was as pleasant as is possible for it to be today; given the low angle of the sun even at midday I waas surprised to feel its warmth. Gloves were still de rigueur, nevertheless I was tempted to cycle a long roundabout way home, from Herne Hill via Streatham and Streatham Common, which I often do during the summer, but it starts getting dark around the time the primary schools are disgorging, and one thing all those noisy little darlings have in common is a ruthless lack of awareness of approaching traffic! Fantastic brilliant orange sunset an hour ago.
