Yes, and I love it oop 'ere, but when the fells disappear in mist/rain whiteout.........suddenly it's already winter!
Hey ho! We'll get sun eventually and then the full majesty of the place will awe us into submission.

Supposed to have been sunny today. I think it's a case of sunny intervals, I hope!!

Sunny in the Pennines, too, this morning. A sprinkling of rain to save me watering the garden forecast for around noon, then sunshine for the rest of the day.

          We shall see.

Slovely here, and set fair it seems.

            Although a local farmer seems to have deemed it a good moment to do his muckspreading.......{holdingnosesmileything}

Cumbrian fells a kind of paradise this afternoon. Slanting light on fells, some trees just about on the turn, but dry, warm and touch of breeze.

I think it's a case of sunny intervals and rather muggy here today.

Wall to wall sunshines and pretty hot here.
                  Way too hot for gardening.....

( well it was after about 11.30 anyway).

Sunshine most of the day here in the Pennines - some shade, and reaching about 21 degrees: perfect gardening weather for me, so I managed four hours' weeding and general cutting back and tidying up.

(I'm principally making space for plants that aren't a shade of pink - all I can see from my Living Room at this time of year is lots of green, and plenty of pink. Blues, whites, orange and purple-brown foliage are on the shopping list.)

This must surely pass as the first August Bank Holiday weekend on which the weather has allowed, nay implored me to take longish cycle trips on consecutive days - yesterday to the country lanes south of West Wickham and Addington (just to remind me what the countryside looks like!); today in the opposite direction to Greenwich by way of Forest Hill and Deptford Sunday market, then back along the picturesque Ravensbourne Riverside walk. Tomorrow is predicted to be hotter than today's comfortable 24 C reached in central London.

A fine, sunny day here with the same promised for tomorrow. Temps about 23 degrees with zero wind - just what we've been missing for the past 6 weeks.

With all the talk earlier in the week of the inactive middle-aged and recommendations for a brisk 10 minute walk, I'd have expected more Sunday strollers but I see very few people walking these days. It's very different from Sundays in years past when we thought nothing of a two mile walk into the surrounding countryside with many other families doing the same. People are wedded to their cars and are missing out on the benefits of a good walk.

RVW was a great chap for walking miles. We had a walk around town yesterday, with me on my scooter!

Yes, we too had fine weather promised on forecast.
But in fact, today, early on we had a wet, misty whiteout - fells invisible, brisk warm breeze. Beginning to dry up for the moment.
                            Bank Holiday huh?

Well they're semi-predicting the hottest August BH Monday on record for down here, and from the 23 C on the thermometer here right now the target could well be met. That statistic says practically everything there is to be said about the usual sort of weather coinciding with the BH!
