More like humid drizzle down here - expected to contine until eventide. I'm hoping the forecast for Saturday turns out to be wrong. Friends are having their annual garden party that day - celebrating their Golden Wedding this year, actually - and they're predicting wind and possibly rain.

Me and MrsBBM went to see the film Dunkirk. Very moving film. Quite harrowing and emotional as well.
The weather was rather windy and the sea quite rough. Coming over the Marina walls!

The first of the forecast downpours now coming into view - thick very dark grey low-based clouds to the north, with Hampstead Heath slowly vanishing into a curtain of heavy rain. Just as well I got my shopping chores done an hour ago! Sadly we look like losing a summer week now to this cyclonic régime.

Went for usual late walk last night and sky fell in for fifteen minutes fanned by BIG blusters, got drenched, then just as suddenly stopped!
                This a.m., non-stop rain.

Lighniong strikes in the Irish Sea. What a waste of good electricity!

A huge downpour just as I was leaving work this evening! Not cold, bit muggy if anything, but the promise of a great summer following the June heatwave hasn't been kept. An average summer so far.

                    What news of August?

No chance me cycling down to my friends' Golden Wedding celebratory garden party tomorrow afternoon, if it's to be held outdoors: heavy rain predicted from early afternoon onwards right across the south. Having just now checked, the scheduled trains between here and Sutton seem to be guaranteed; however, in itself that was no "guaranteed guarantee" last year: when I arrived at Gipsy Hill station the announcement board stated that all trains going SW were cancelled, and I would have to go in the opposite direction and re-connect with another Sutton line at Clapham Junction - which would have wasted half the visit! I ended up cycling through rain on what was a sticky day, arriving all sweaty under my cycle cape and not feeling particularly approachable!!!

There still seems a lot of uncertainty surrounding next week's weather, with some talk of a thundery episode on Wednesday, so if I were a betting man I would place my tiddlywinks on a continuation of the changeable sort of weather we're having right now, Bbm.

Shockingly bad day here for July. Heavy rain from the late afternoon through to a few moments ago. It's not been particularly warm all day and I'm debating whether to put the heating on or not but will probably settle for a jumper. Utterly dismal.

Just suddenly struck me that oop 'ere, I was wondering when was the last time I saw the stars at night?
Last night started with this weird crescent moon, but then...........as per usual, cloud.
