Indeed the jet stream - or what's left of it! - seems to have got into another rut, which has now become a kind of defaut rather than representing one of those legendary exceptions of old. Gone seem to be the times when we could optimistically look forward to summers as we languished through seemingly unending winters, because now the only choice seems to be a binary one of either cool and unsettled or stiflingly hot and drought-ridden.
Regardless of the time of year!
The rain has stopped here for now(due to return during the night possibly) and there have been some breaks in the cloud, allowing a bit more light through. The wind is still cold and far too strong, although at least it's drying things out a little.
Pleasant weather down here in N Wilts. We visited a nearby NGS garden open day. Short sleeves possible in balmy, wind still conditions with sun coming through. Masses of roses in prolific bloom.
Roses doing well down here, despite it all.
Today is teetering on the pleasant, but it is a struggle. On the bright side, quite nice weather for walking, fast bowlers, jogging etc.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
They're talking light showers - from how quickly the cumulus are already building I'm predicting heavy showers (again) for today. And it's ruddy cold! I had to put on the heating this morning, for the first time I can remember in June!

Just been on bike to GP surgery for annual health MOT. Very cool wind and jacket definitely required. Heating luckily not needed. 20.7° in living room at the moment.
It will improve - at least by 27 June. It is always warm and sunny on my birthday.
Outfit for earlier walk into town - 3 thin layers under a lined waterproof, with scarf to plug the neck gap against northerly wind, and fingerless gloves - just yer average June - not! To be fair June is often the subject of exasperation weatherwise, hence "flamin'June" as yet another rainstorm goes over or an easterly airflow deprives us of the warmth other areas are enjoying, but this year has been all of that on steroids and out of control.
Tomatoes etc still waiting to be planted out, currently convalescing under cover...

An idea being informally put forward by persons with experience in the meteorological profession is that with global warming the traditionally 3-monthy divided seasons have been put off by one month. Hence spring is now comprised of April, May and June, summer of July, August and September, autumn being October, November and December, and winter consisting of January, February and March. Thinking of December, it certainly seems that way - temperatures typical of autumn (not that different from today's come to think of it!), leaves still on the trees right to the end of the month, when they would have been down by the close of November in earlier times.
