The thunderstorm threat has been downgraded to just scattered outbreaks, it now seems - but not the high temperatures for tomorrow and Monday. No further rain seems likely for another week, and then only on and off, as winds remain in the NE quadrant.

        Going up...
The temperature forecasts have been changing frequently, and had been going down somewhat but today's high is currently showing as 26(and increase from the previous predicted high) and tomorrow 29(ditto). There is now possibility of thunderstorms appearing on Sunday's forecast to add to the mix. The cold airflow continues which will help a bit, but it also greatly increases the chance of burnt skin.

28C in the shade right now - I guess we might squeeze a 29C this afternoon, here on south London's favourite mountain. I guess we're fortunate in our elevated situation (I nearly wrote status!): other parts around London have recorded 31C, which would be 88F in the old money. We've been watching vigorous cumulus cloud growth to the south and west, which will be interesting to see if it reaches precipitacious levels later this afternoon. All the kids in the block are out enjoying the garden hose, albeit something of a trickle, with a large old-fashioned bath someone found in an outhouse being used to catch the leak further up-pipe.

I think thunderstorms are probably more likely to break out widely tomorrow, which would scupper my intended visit to the Brixton windmill - walking tour £12 per head, inclusive I think of tea and cakes in the garden.

            Rain just started here.

Hope it puts a bit of a dampener on the so-and-so who thinks the whole neighbourhood wants to hear them do karaoke or something.

It did actually force our neighbourhood crooner to stop! But then the rained stopped and he's back at it again.

Storms between 4 and 5 pm hereabouts. A decent drenching which has got well into the soil

And I see that a line of vigorous thunderstorms has now got going stretching from Oxford north-west through your area to the Welsh border west of Shrewsbury - which is pretty good forecasting by the official sources who worked out the greatest probable locus for convective convergence. It will be interesting how far this line extends this way - I will be out skygazing the moment J to Z concludes.

Pleased to report more rain has started again and again the crooner has stopped.

Hopefully any electronic amplification equipment was waterlogged as well!

No thunderstorms here yet but the steady rain now falling along with the still high temperature suggests they may be on the way.

I've been watching a largish area of thunderstorms as it has proceeded NW along the western flank of the M25: pink forked lightning appearing frequently from a grey-brown murk zone where the main rainfall seems to be centred. Someone on UKWW has been posting online coverage at Heathrow, where planes appear to be landing into a virtual lake, creating massive sprays of water. But apart from a few spots our drought remains unbroken. Today is proving unbearably oppressive, with no breeze to alleviate the 28C heat and humidity, unlike yesterday. I had thought to attend a guided visit to the Brixton windmill this afternoon, but decided against at the last minute, which appears to have been a wise decision!

We had a lovely wee shower for the garden this morning - I sat in the shed and enjoyed watching it. The birds also seemed to be enjoying the first reasonable amount of rain for about a month.
