Cold, but sunny. I did remove my jacket for the last five minutes of my walk (sorry, my back does just get sweaty!)

Not a bad day, down here. The usual cold, but always good when the sun comes out.

The forecast frost didn't materialise as it stayed just above freezing overnight, but that was small comfort as the grey and damp and perishing cold breeze made it seem very cold*. The volunteer gardening slot this morning was a challenge, duty rather more to the fore than pleasure...

          * I've just looked at the forecast and seen that the temperature didn't get above 2 degrees until midday so no wonder it felt cold!

Heavy overnight frost here with a clear blue sky and temperature hovering around freezing all day. The blazing sun has no warmth in it whatsoever and, as usual at this time of year, comes straight in through the windows shining on books and CDs, necessitating the blinds coming down.

That is what is expected to come our way tomorrow. Today it just about managed 5C, with weak sunny intervals breaking through lumpy stratocumulus - too cold for any convection - and some pretty perforated altocumulus at higher levels. "They" don't appear to know how long this cold wave is going to last, and I will not venture any prognostications beyond spelling "prognostications" correctly!

I too have this problem - the telly is located under one of my south-facing windows; the low-slung sunshine at this time of year blots out the picture without shielding the eyes, so I've now devised turning the flat screen at an angle to allow the sun to warm up the back of the settee on which I would otherwise be sitting, and watching from an armchair to the side.

                    As I post, temp = -5C.
Glittering horizon to horizon hard frost. Cloudless.

Not quite as cold here but similar otherwise. Iridescent frost.

2°C on the Moors round Waskerley Reservoir this morning, and a biting wind - definitely jacket on weather!
Fantastic views in all directions though.

Already frosty when I popped down to the bins last thing last evening; the minimum went down to -3C here, and had only reached zero C at midday - the lowest noonday temperature here since 13 February 2021. Just 1.5C as of now, so it's gloves and woolly hat on for my cycle ride to the shops in a few minutes' time. Tonight some snow is expected to drift south down the country, associated with a weak cold front, so with minima again below freezing one can expect a dusting of snow on dry surfaces first thing tomorrow - probably something more substantial than that further north.

I woke during the night and thought it had snowed, but it was the silvering of a brilliant moon combined with heavy frost on roofs etc. Today has been very cold, but as it has been dry with lots of sunshine it's actually felt much better than yesterday. A huge black blanket is travelling across the eastern side of the sky currently but becoming very frayed and thin as it goes west. The setting sun is giving some impressive pastel lighting effects as it catches the underside of the clouds. Shady spots didn't defrost and there are a good few frozen puddles on the pavements; the gritter was out as I came back from town at 2-30. We might miss the snow that was forecast, depending on how far inland the cloud mass during the night comes.

                              -5C outside as I post.
Numbing cold - and that's INDOORS, despite winter sun through decent south facing windows most of the daylight hours

In times past, this would have been a perfect winter's day: dry, very frosty and cold. Ideal walking weather for getting the blood pumping round! However, with one eye on the smart meter steadily climbing upwards there's not quite so much pleasure involved.

Different forecasts are giving out a lot of contradictory information as to whether we get any snow here or not so we'll just have to see what actually happens.
