    Another fine day, methinks.

A sunny start up here this morning but it looks like turning into a repeat of yesterday. There were again huge masses of black cloud but without any rain, while the wind was fairly strong and sufficient to take a few degrees off the temperature. Intermittent sunshine in the afternoon made it warmer to sit in the rear porch, out of that wind, than stay indoors where there was a distinct chill. Very disappointing for early July.

          Windy, sunny, 18C here...

...perfect day for drying washing, a spot of gardening and enjoying a cup of coffee on the patio - which is what I'm doing now.

Now 21C here with just over a half skyfull of cumulus and stratocumulus as a weak front passes by.

Earlier it was sunny and the temperature topped 23C - meanwhile, while I should have been out enjoying it, I was stuck indoors darning holes in a much loved rug given to me at age 9 by an aunt (my mother's sister). At one end the fronds are still extant, but not at the other, which had become so frayed I just took a pair of sharp scissors and cut 3 inches away in a straight line. At some point - not this week as I don't want to waste a good few days of decent weather before it gets hot once more - I intend turning that end over and stitching along to make a new hem. It will take time, as I don't own a sewing machine.

The noun for such activities surely has to be darnation

                Come down south, my friend!

Going to be a good manageable day today, temperature wise.

A good indication of the effects of the sun's strength at this time of year was how the difference between 19C on my north-facing wall thermometer and the heat on the south side of the block felt just now.

There's talk of a potentially long heatwave starting up after this weekend; posters on UKweatherweb are beginning to worry about reservoir water levels etc.

We've been away on the Isle of Man for the last week, the weather there was a mixture of sunshine and cloud. However, there was an everpresent breeze which bordered on the gale force side from time to time! That said, we got sunburnt at Port Erin a week ago, sitting on the beach at 6.30pm. Wish I was still there as it's back to work tomorrow
                    Best regards,
                    Jonathan

In which case I might as well abandon my veg garden now and just concentrate my efforts on keeping my new fruit trees and bushes alive until autumn comes with (I hope) better (ie wetter) growing conditions... It will also confirm why at the site where I do volunteer gardening we don't go in for bedding, and that doing so this year as a result of donated stock was always going to be a gamble. Since so far it's been me that's put in the hours of work with already scarce energy this is a blow.

Intermittent cloud and a high of 24C. Notation bad. Verging on being too hit for me.

Obviously politics are no longer allowed so I’ll stick to the weather - not much blue here today! Grey skies ahead and music to face and for the lucky just to sing.

As we were recently reminded, like another place, this is not a democratic forum. Like someone else, the 'leadership' can press ahead regardless.

Quite nice temperature here at the moment. I like this weather and this month is pretty much the only one that I can guarantee not getting eczema.
