Lovely warm spring day here with temperature rising up to 18C. However, it remains surprisingly chilly indoors and the heating hasn't yet been turned off completely, though it will be on April 1 whatever happens!

Tomorrow I think I'll do the 17-mile round cycle trip I did a week ago, in reverse: Dulwich Park > Peckham Rye > New Cross > Deptford High St > Deptford Creek > Ladywell Park > Catford Stn > Ravensbourne Riverside Walk via Bellingham > Cator Park, Beckenham > Penge > Crystal Palace Pk > home. With a stop off at the friendly little tea hut in Ladywell Park for a slice of their homemade carrot cake and a cuppa.

Give a wave, as you sail by, to Ladywell Cemetry where my grandparents, Arthur and Nellie, are buried. We located the grave a few years ago all overgrown and tidied it up a bit.

Today being the last of summer's early announcements, I did last week's round trip, but the other way around, remembering to wave in the direction of Ladywell Cemetary as I passed by. Then I sunned myself out in the garden until 4pm, when the chill in the wind that has been a feature of this spell of otherwise lovely weather got the better of the solar benefits and I came indoors. Next week's weather takes the oddest turn I've seen in all my years of amateur observations, assuming they've got it right.

Much cooler today, as predicted, but temperatures are around what they should be for late March, even a degree higher now that the sun's broken through the clag. The official forecasters have changed their minds about Weds and Thurs from yesterday, when they were predicting a vigorous slow-moving low forming over Wales on the southward moving cold front, which I've never yet seen happen. What they are now predicting doesn't look much better though, with quite a bit of rain - much needed, I know - and temperatures not far above snow levels even down here.

Very thick fog this morning, the drive to work will have been a challenge for some I suspect. I could only just make out the end of my garden, and a bus and large lorry travelling out of town were just swallowed up once past the bottom of my road. The sun is getting through quite well now and the lack of air movement will make it milder than might otherwise be the case I think.

Given the state of my car this morning I do wonder if the clothes are coming in dirtier than they went out. There seems to be still some Saharan sand but most of it is homegrown field blow and dust from the unmade road surface.
