More likely to be lack of light I would have thought. Next door had a fence panel fall out in the recent storms and they left it on the lawn for sometime. It'll take a while for the pale patch to green up as the light levels and temperature are still on the low side. On the plus side at least the damaged shoots won't get sun scorched...

Collective noun for a flock of bikers? Take your pick (https://www.cbf1000.com/index.php?topic=1977.0)...

... I quite like maelstrom too.

          Back to the 60s

#1 Billboard hit, 1964. Unlike the commonly heard stereo version, this one is not missing the line "One day my dad said find someone new".

Sunny here now after cloudy start, gentle east nor-easter taking off some of the edge from the still sub-average temps.

Sorry to have to say, but conditions in Ukraine, meteorologically-speaking, are relatively benign at the moment, with temperatures hovering around freezing with light winds. And since the Russian invasion that part of the world has been mercifully avoided by substantial precipitation-bearing weather systems. But checking the charts, Thursday onwards predicts strong north-eastery winds there, coming straight out of the steppes, and temperatures varying between -3C and -7C at best.

Big temperature drop this afternoon for my walk, despite the bright sunshine, and surprisingly windy with a real raw edge to it. I was surprised to find on returning home my thermometer reading only 4C, and I'm on the relatively sheltered, western slope of the ridge: it had been 7C at 2 o'clock. This can happen as previously moist air streams dry out when wind directions veer in more from the Continent than from the North Sea, as was the case first thing this morning.

But beware of being sexist - there are some Femael riders.

Yeah, I had the same thought, but did not wish to enter a gender/non-gender minefield!

Bob Dylan in ‘Gates of Eden’ refers to the ‘Motorcycle Black Madonna Two-wheel Gypsy Queen’ - wouldn’t like to risk a curse there methinks!

Yes, more than a degree of frost here last night, but it's warming up now - already a couple of degrees up on yesterday's noontime temperature: Should reach 10 C this afternoon. Not quite warm enough yet for sunbathing, however!

My phone app says 9°, feels like 5. Bright n breezy with washing almost dry already.

Brilliant sun and clear blue sky all day, but my goodness the wind was nippy. Odd effect of freezing temperatures overnight; the compost in tubs and pots was frozen solid but the various dishes of water dotted around were all still very much liquid.
