Having just checked the going temperatures at Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki, they appear to my admittedly under-informed thinking to be about what one would expect at this time of the year.

This damp mild weather I find difficult in terms of space heating, as it will often feel chilly indoors even when the thermometer and thermostat say otherwise. As such weather also tends to make my joints painfully unhappy I override the boiler/thermostat controls to make the living room more comfortable, or might consider lighting the woodstove - which of course now comes with an accompaniment of guilt...
I have much the same problems with joints under these conditions these days. 13-14 C may be 3-4 degs above expected, but added dampness certainly calls for a light coat outdoors and pullover, in or out.

Rather an uninspiring day today, methinks. Cloudy. That’s it! 8-13C!

Much the same nondescript weather expected for the remainder or the week, followed by a turn to cold northerlies from Sunday on.

Very noisy here today with two tree surgeons virtually decimating a couple of our mature sycamores, together with the huge hornbeam.

Indeed. Towards the end of my walk I felt the need to remove my cardigan... I quite like these still, nondescript fairly mild days.

A lovely sunny morning yesterday, everyone noticeably happier after too many days of grey. The arrival of cloud at lunchtime made for a sudden drop in temp as the chilly wind made itself felt. Same pattern forecast for today, so volunteer gardening should be fine provided the wind can be kept at bay, either by clothing or choosing work areas carefully.

It looks as if it is going to remain sunny this afternoon - for a change! With half of foliage now down and the remainder displaying stunning mixtures of colours, I might hit the Ravensbourne Riverside Path this afternoon before the schools disgorge as the last chance this year to witness this short-lived gift for the eyes. From Sunday onwards it appears we could be in for a spell of cold weather - not quite cold enough for snow (in the south at any rate) but sub-late November norms.

A really pleasant day here today 12C sunny and a gentle breeze. This is really good following a very dull day yesterday which was redeemed by a lovely ‘fire in the sky’ sunset.

Well, it stayed sunny all day, a bonus, especially as the wind movement was minimal as well so very pleasant outside.

A reasonable day, I would think. Yesterday proved disappointing: by the time I made it to my favourite local beauty spot the daylight was starting to fade, and more of the leaves are down than I had anticipated. Good exercise, though!

14 here today. It's feels a bit cooler indoors though here!
