Currently 26.6 degrees. Having clipped what's left of the grass - I wouldn't presume to describe it as a lawn - I've retreated indoors.

All those terminologically exact meteorologists who post on UKWW are agreeing with me, that yesterday's failure of the French thunderstorms to make it over the Channel was down to cold sea surface temperatures making it impossible for convection to be maintained for the journey. Tonight and tomorrow might be different, however, as any thunderstorms occurring over the SE and E Anglia was be of the elevated variety, which do not depend on on warm surfaces, being triggered by complex interactions between airstreams of different origin, humidity levels and height.
Very warm again today, with a nice breeze alleviating high humidity levels which would make it otherwise unbearable.

Significantly cooler and real possibility of rain later, gardening would be sensible I think, a good opportunity to get more plants put in, and put off the errands until later.
Yesterday at work was bare arms and legs and staying out of the sun, such a contrast with my shift on Wednesday last week when it was warm trousers, long socks, sweatshirt and fleece plus waterproof...

Rain nearly all morning here, just about into the moderate category now; very light northerly air, poor viz, temperature 15 C (just short of 60 F in old currency). Strong thunderstorms aplenty just on the other side, running along the French/Belgian border and further east into Germany - all part of the same complex, though I am less confident that any will get as far as here than I was last night. It will mean a soggy walk to the shops this afternoon though.
