There have been occasions when we've wished we could do just that! At the moment the various Covid imposed restrictions have improved behaviour quite significantly...

A deluge would be a respite here. Selfishly I'm wishing for a "typical" BH Monday, but it doesn't seem likely at least on the precipitation front although temperatures look set to be the usual 'don't worry about ice-creams melting' scenario.

We've had about a half an inch of rain over the last couple of days. Much needed in the garden but could be warmer - sunny here but only 5C.

When used as a verb, it means to alight from a light 1- or 2-man sled.

The raindrops have been removed and the 40% chance of rain this afternoon has in the past couple of hours been downgraded to 20% at most - so nowt. Chances of temperature hitting even 10 degrees look slim at best as well. Oh well at least I won't have to try and get a waterproof over multiple staying warm layers at work today...

On the top of BBM's patio beer, I wonder?

Surprised to see Oddy's diminished expectation of rain today, given that the main area of convective generation is over the N Sea, and expected to be borne inland on the albeit light north wind. Here cloud is bubbling up, as yesterday, however a cap prevented anything more than one or two big raindrops around midday. Thunder has nevertheless been reported in the past hour west of the Gower peninsular.

April minima at 2 C were a couple of degrees below mean - for the second time this year, the first being January. Average nighttime minima were actually colder this month than February or March!

Monday is expected to revert to a strong westerly type, and with the Greenland high remaining strongly in situ pushing the jet stream well to our south, deepening depressions are expected to traverse the middle of the country for much of next week, starting on that day - the second BH to be wrecked by bad weather in a row.

Loads of rain promised by the Radio Cornwall for next week - needed very much by gardeners and farmers so I hope they’re right!
Today is a lovely sunny day - outdoor singing practice in the garden this afternoon for our group of five.

So now we know, because the Met Office has reported this as having been the coldest April since 1922 for the number of night frosts. It has also been among the 5 highest since 1919 for sunshine amounts, ironically also due to the prevalence of high pressure.

Well we did have some rain after all - a 20 min shower between 5 and 5-30... Cleared the air and laid the dust but that's it. Sunshine and showers plus cold wind tomorrow they reckon, and overnight frost risk remains.

We've had a 50% increase in our total April rainfall - from 1.2 to 1.8 mm.
