It now looks as if the chosen location of this week's blocking high means that, with winds coming off the North Sea affecting all but to the west of any high ground, it will remain on the cold side, especially by night. However, temperatures will start to rise to normal and then above by Saturday.

It's been a lovely spring day here today - actually feeling warm for once. the wind has picked up a little now and has an edge to it, but the gardening this morning was very pleasant; I even had to shed a layer and certainly nothing like last Tuesday when it was multiple layers and brushing snow flakes off. The visitors on site were also enjoying the conditions, taking their time over drinks and snacks from the cafe consumed on the picnic benches in the courtyard which is a sun trap.

Cold for tomorrow, with moist. shower-bearing North Sea air affecting us and along the east coast - followed by a gradual warming over the weekend, with little rain expected other than in Scotland, and decent temperatures returning almost everywhere for the start of next week.

Bright sun and cloudless sky here, too, after another frosty start.
The solar panels are already doing their stuff, so the breadmaker and washing machine are both on to take advantage of our 'free' electricity.
Unfortunately, the inverter has stopped talking to the wifi system, so we can't readily monitor what we're producing; we're waiting for a member of the company's technical team to get in touch!
