We look to have missed frost last night but today is likely to continue the cold grey trend, and the now standard rider " at least it's dry"! The sun might possibly sort of appear after lunch, but I don't think it'll make much difference to the temperature even if it happens so I'll just have to grit my teeth, wrap up, and get out into the garden anyway, as there are things that need doing which will be easier while it is dry, even if uncomfortable due to the cold.
I might just venture out for a few miles in a while, given that it's at least dry, albeit cold, and make the most of the general drying up process that's been underway for the past fortnight, making it just possible to take to the local woods last weekend. Next week comes the predicted change of weather régime, with a return to zonal westerlies, and, as seems now to have become the norm, a supercharged Atlantic jet bringing the prospect of at least one day of very very strong winds, which are likely to come on Thursday.
Sun, yes, nice.....but, in this prime growing season, we have had NO rain up here or FOUR / FIVE days.
Some forecast for tomorrow, but...but...?
Careful what you wish for?
Today turned out better than expected. The sun tried to break through well before lunch which made it easier to get suited and booted for the garden. As expected once it did get through properly it didn't make much difference to the temperature although by tucking myself in the corner of my patio full in the sun and with the fence keeping draughts off I was able to have an afternoon cup of tea outside after finishing garden activity- not a leisurely one though! If it stays clear overnight there'll be a frost I think.
A positive NAF. The rain expected last night and forecast for today has not happened, instead the sun and blue sky are getting the better of the cloud, and it is so much milder. Just what I need after a very difficult night - hardly any sleep and overwhelmed by ongoing problems. The walk into town for errands and shopping will be pleasant, and I might be able to do a bit of garden pottering later.
