Rain through the night and into the morning when it turned to snow. It's still snowing - and windy.

Still snowing, cold and windy. Think this might be the first day I can remember when I didn't go for a walk.

Mid afternoon and -5C .................And blowing a shark-tongued easterly hoolie. Brutal.

That easterly looks set to be around for most areas for a while now - some divergence between UKWW posters who think it could turn really cold in a week's time, and the BBC, who are being more cautious.

Well... you are much higher up than most of us here, I would guess - looking benevolently down upon us mere mortals.

Unpleasantly biting headwind on my bike ride this afternoon from unaccustomed easterly direction.

It's cold - I'm in my bedroom and can see my breath.

                      Good curry last night?!
A pretty sky this morning. Palest apricot-tinted mares tail laid along the horizon with mackerel skin spreading above, and all without the brutal slashes of contrails. It will be a cold walk today, especially with the lazy east wind going through instead of round a body, but there should be some sun - and it's not raining.

It’s been a great seeing the sun again, after a few uninspiring days!

Bright here too, but cold (-3C according to the app on my phone); frost on the meadow and lake frozen again, having thawed out/melted with the rain.
No hint of a wind, so not worth hanging any washing out today!

Any Jack Frost patterns on the windows?

It turned very murky here, following a bright morning - dark enough for vehicles to need headlights on at 2.30 when I went out for a 3-mile walk, made unpleasant by the damp air feeling like a cold wet flannel strapped across the face. Temperature no higher than 4 C, drizzle escalating to a light rain. Plenty of people out walking, as per usual here at weekends. Apart from the persistent gloom, this winter has been characterised by higher water tables than I've known since moving here: much of Belair Park presently consists of a lake. One would imagine the aquifers underlying the London clay to be sufficiently replenished by now to see off any drought water supply restrictions for the next few years.
