I was glad I got my walk in while it was sunny. Now it's doing something between snow and hail.

Lovely day here. A perfect football watching day in fact ......

After a cold and frosty start, there was enough warmth in the sun (though the air temperature is still jolly chilly) for us to have been able to sit out on the front bench without jackets, and have some friendly (well-distanced) chats with passers-by.

That was yesterday's set-up. Today was instant blue fingers and chilled to the marrow just stepping outside the back door for a couple of minutes, although very little wind. The lack of sun and the very high humidity the cause I assume.

Or let autumn fall on me
                Where afield I linger,
                Silencing the bird on tree,
                Biting the blue finger.
White as meal the frosty field –
                Warm the fireside haven –
Not to autumn will I yield,
                Not to winter even!

Not got the vagabond stamina then?

Not today no, and possibly not tomorrow either - I'll probably have to settle for 'needs must' just to get out of the house.

Well, down here, we have just a frost but cloud looking quite heavy, rain or snow?

It's been snowing here since around 9... still snowing too.

3 cm on the ground in an hour here - a pretty good performance by London standards! It started snowing just after 9, quickly settling on surfaces even though the air temperature was 2 C, owing to this following a cold night (- 3 C). Snow kept falling at around or just above freezing point, on the cusp of will it settle or thaw? The families in the block have been out building snow persons - the best consisting of three balls atop each other the work of the Khaghistanis (or however you spell their nationality) in Flat 7. I said it would clear during the afternoon, but it has in fact almost stopped here already: the frontal system bringing this is expected to pivot across the Midlands and down into Essex before swinging back across the S tonight, adding maybe a few more centimeters before the wind goes back west tomorrow and temperatures rise to something closer to normal

Next week starts a 1963-type battle of airmasses, with cold air from the east blocking advance of milder south westerlies along aline from NE England and across scotland. So, it's milder, but more heavy rain for areas west, and possibly snow NE. They're thinking of a return to cold in a week's time.

Heavy snow here for most of the day and the deepest I've seen it for many years. A very wintry scene!

Freezing hard up here! But as yet, no snow.
