Rain became determined sleet which changed briefly into fine snow and now we are back to rain. It seems to be taking longer to clear across than first anticipated, and for tonight we have " becoming bitterly cold. -4" Lovely - just as well not so many folk needing to use the roads. I'm glad I went out yesterday to get shopping done; it's the main market tomorrow but I think there may be gaps, and there isn't anything that I need from there, although want is slightly different, depending on what fruit or fish is on offer.

In the West we are escaping the downpours, which is good - ground is sodden. Was 10C earlier but now down to 6. Brief, pleasant sunshine but v chilly wind for bike ride just now.

Well the bitterly cold didn't materialise last night and today was above freezing(just about), although not especially pleasant with greyness all day and the damp making for a raw feel. Fog, wind, cold and snow to look forward to over the next 24 hours apparently.

About 1C today. Grey but no wind, so my walk was ok.

Wish I'd filled the log basket last night. The snow has arrived here, but at the last minute. Wasn't there at 4-30am but when I woke again at 8-30 it was to a white blanket, the Met Office report suggests it started around 6 am in the west of the county, and has both amber and yellow warnings up. If as forecast it turns to sleet and then rain later things are going to get very messy, the ground is already waterlogged.

Indeed. At least it doesn't say warning of yellow snow - I think that's taken as read!

Miserable damp, searching cold and just a sneakity little chilling NW breeze.

The BBC local weather site includes a shot of heavy snow falling somewhere "in Greater London" at 6 am, though it would be nice if the poster had stated his or her location, as per usual, because here, at 6 am, it was just rain with the odd blob of snow in the mix, temperature 2 degs C, and no signs of laying. By the time the sun had emerged for my afternoon walk, the temperature had reached 7 C, which almost felt mild after so long on sub-average temperatures.

Oh jeez - someone's just started setting off fireworks! Really, this activity should be banned outside November 5 and New Years Eve.

                              Quite re the fireworks.

It rained till around lunchtime, yesterday. Then the sun started to come out. Now looks like it’s going to be sunny intervals.
